TAKE 5: South West Four, 26-27/8/17

SW4 sunday line-upWith less than a month to go until some of the biggest names in EDM assemble on Clapham Common for South West Four, we’ve been casting our eye over the stellar line-up to pick a few not-to-be-missed acts. With headline sets from the likes of Knife Party, Deadmau5, Pendulum, and Tinie Tempah, the event maintains its reputation for booking huge acts. But to be fair, there is solid stuff to be found right throughout the schedule so here are a few that you should seriously consider seeking out if you’re heading along to the big Bank Holiday weekend party.

Day 1 at South West Four is sold out, but there is still some availability for Sunday 27 August – tickets here.

Saturday’s schedule is full of big-hitters, but be sure to catch Julio Bashmore. The Bristol-born DJ and producer will be bringing his fully-loaded brand of house to proceedings and if past experience is anything to go by, there will be absolutely no let-up in his set.

An absolute giant of the circuit, Sub Focus will forever be etched in our memories for delivering one of the finest nights out with a huge headline show at Brixton Academy on Easter Thursday back in 2014. The Surrey-born DJ – Nick Douwma – will be featuring on South West Four’s main stage for the first time, having previously wowed the crowd from the confines of the second stage. This year, his higher-profile slot on Sunday will be particularly momentous, not only for showcasing material from his new album, but because it will also mark the debut of his all-new light show. Version 2.0 promises to be spectacular and an absolute priority must-see.

Bristol brothers Tom and Ian Griffiths have been making waves for a while now as Icarus. They’ve been busy on the festival circuit this summer, although South West Four is bound to be one of the biggest of their year. New track Trouble is our favourite of theirs and gives a taste of what these guys are capable of.

South London trio Disciples (Nathan Vincent Duvall, Gavin Koolmon, and Luke McDermott) will relish this gig on their home patch. They’ve had a triumphant 12 months or so, not least with their smash On My Mind, building on a solid reputation that has in the past been even further enhanced through collaborations with the likes of Calvin Harris and David Guetta. As well as On My Mind, see also the amazing They Don’t Know. Catch them on Sunday in the Nothing Else Matters arena.

Uniting Nicky Night Time (formerly of Van She) and vocalist Nat Dunn, NAATIONS dropped their storming debut tune earlier this year. Alive shows a blend of underground style, energy and pop gloss that is reminiscent of some of Rudimental’s work. Catch them at Saturday’s South West Four before they go huge.
