The magical, dreamy, retro sound of Canadian indie-pop outfit Alvvays is demonstrated at its very best in this superb track. Taken from the album Antisocialites, released in September this year, the persistent guitar-work layers up wonderfully to provide the song with its rich texture and immersive atmosphere, topped with Molly Rankin’s distinctive vocals. It’s the kind of effect that many bands attempt but very few pull off quite so perfectly.

Their album is full of gems like this, making it a real highlight of 2017. We were lucky enough to catch the band on tour in the summer too, and their live performance takes these well-crafted compositions to an altogether different level. It’s been a big year for this talented group, hence this well-deserved spot in our top ten selection.
